Plan the perfect Mother’s Day! 05.03.12

Every year when Mother’s Day rolls around, restaurants and businesses offer special menus and events to help us celebrate the women we love and appreciate the most: our mothers.
Why are we beaming with excitement? Because we have ideas that will leave mom with memories she won’t forget, while undoubtedly blowing the typical knick-knack gift out of the water. Read on to learn more!
Pure Barre
Get mom onboard the “tucking” train and treat her to a special mother-daughter class! Toning is much more fun when done in pairs, and she will appreciate the endorphin boost and a start to swim suit season.
If Sunday isn’t the best day for your schedule, a gift card for her is a perfect alternative to take a class together on a later date. Check out the Bellevue and Seattle locations for scheduling information.
Light Spring Wines
Make reservations with Washington wineries offering special tastings, or visit local restaurants and treat mom to any of these superb lighter favorites.
Treveri Sparking Wines – Syrah Brut, Blanc de Noir, and Viogner are all sparking varieties great for brunch or dinner with mom.
Gilbert Cellars – Romance her with the 2011 Mourvedre Rosé featuring delicate rose petal aromatics.
Kiona Vineyard – Crisp, dry First Crush Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc will pair magically with a variety of foods.
Two Mountain Winery – With strawberry aromas and a hint of kiwi, their 2011 Rosé is great for moms who love their wine both fruity and dry.
Dining
Tilth – Nothing sounds more enticing than Grand Marnier French Toast as a sweet delight for mom. Pair it with a mimosa on the Tilth patio during weekend brunch to let mom know she’s special.
Golden Beetle – Jazz up brunch with the powerful flavors of a Mediterranean breakfast. From the Eggplant Scramble bursting with flavors of paprika and cumin to the more traditional Herbed Falafel with fava beans, award winning chef Maria Hines will not disappoint.
Pecado Bueno – This California-style taqueria in Fremont is inviting mom to lounge by the fire or water fall on one of three outdoor patios. Treat her to a $3 Mommy Margarita made with 100 percent agave tequila and pair it with the fresh veggies and irresistible chorizo in the Chorizo Veggie Scramble. Bueno!
Vios – Give her a taste of Greece with Vios’ weekend brunch. Mom can get a sample of their pita bread trio with three different Greek dipping sauces, or go for a heartier two-skewer Lamb Souvlaki with roasted tomatoes and creamy tatziki sauce. The genuine hospitality felt at Vios will leave the whole family happy.
Cafe Flora – Celebrate their 20th annual Mother’s Day Brunch offering dishes for the whole family to enjoy. Their special set menu features an array of options from sweet to savory.
Dine in for fresh spring dishes like their Asparagus Benedict served with morel mushroom on an herbed polenta cake, or for a sweet treat, try their Banana Brule French Toast with house made mascarpone and caramel-rum sauce.
Their brunch menu is $30 per person and $12.50 for kids, listed in full on their website. Reservations available for parties of all sizes. Call 206-325-9100.
Mother’s Day is the one day we get to truly celebrate this very special lady. Pure Barre 10-Day Challenge! 01.03.11
First off – Happy New Year!! We are excited for 2011 and a new year full of exciting partnerships and new opportunities!
But first, let’s talk about an opportunity to get in shape and stay there. We recently took the Pure Barre 10-day challenge – 10 days in a row of Pure Barre classes, 10 days of lifting, toning and burning. We know we might sound a bit crazy but we wanted walk the talk and figured if we were asking others to do it then we should too.

Was it hard, yes. Did we push ourselves, yes. But by the fourth day we found increased strength and flexibility that gave us the motivation and encouragement to keep going and that our time and effort was definitely worth it. By the end of 10 days we were stronger all over, had more energy and felt less stiff after a day of sitting at the computer. If you are new to the Pure Barre concept it is a 55-minute workout that combines elements of ballet, Pilates and weights set to upbeat music, making classes fly by. You work all of your muscles, including hips, thighs, butt and stomach to fatigue, through tiny isometric movements until they burn and beg you to stop. This burning is good, it means your muscles are working and changing. Of course all of that work and burn is followed up with soothing stretches for our hard worked muscles to lengthen them while they are warm and create long, lean lines.
To the men out there… do not despair, this workout is for you too! Pure Barre and other barre based workouts have been known to whip men into prime shape and tone the muscles they may never have been able to in the weight room. There is a great article in Details magazine that we recommend checking out.
So to kick 2011 off in proper “resolution” form we are challenging you and anyone you know who is looking for a kick butt workout, to take the Pure Barre 10-day challenge! Tell us about your experience and we’ll share your success story here! And to make it even sweeter, new students get their first month of unlimited classes for just $99!
Pure Barre is located in Bellevue across from The Bravern and in Seattle across from U Village.

Just 2 weeks away! Lift, tone, burn in Bellevue 11.17.10

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PURE BARRE TECHNIQUE OPENS SECOND WA LOCATION IN BELLEVUE;
WORKOUT FUSES PILATES, BALLET AND WEIGHTSLow impact, high results workout uses small isometric movements to tone trouble areas
BELLEVUE – Pure Barre, a total body workout proven to target women’s trouble areas, is set to open its second location in Bellevue in early November. Pure Barre works to lift your seat, tone your thighs, abs, arms and burn fat in record-breaking time by fusing elements of ballet, Pilates and weights in a 55 minute intense session. Small isometric movements set to upbeat music make Pure Barre the fastest, most effective, yet safest way to change your body. This fusion workout has a huge following across the United States, largely in Southern California, and is quickly gaining popularity in the Northwest.
Sami Sweeney, owner of Pure Barre Seattle, is expanding her fitness company across the pond and introducing the workout to a brand new audience hungry to change up their boring gym routine and get in shape for good. Pure Barre Bellevue is located on the main level of The Plaza at Elements on 112th Avenue in downtown Bellevue.
“Our Seattle clients quickly learned how impactful and effective the Pure Barre workout is and their energy and enthusiasm for the technique lead to my decision to open a second location in Bellevue,” said Sweeney. “I have seen the results first-hand from my Seattle clients and know that Eastsiders, from moms to business professionals to students, will reap the benefits of this workout!”
Sweeney, a Pure Barre teacher of more than two years in Nashville, TN, opened Pure Barre Seattle after wanting to bring the Pure Barre Technique to her Northwest roots. After teaching Pure Barre for nearly a year, Sweeney became a master teacher trainer of the Southern Central region of the United States and opened Pure Barre Seattle in June 2010.
Pure Barre’s workout is accessible for all ages and fitness levels because of its low impact, high results formula. From the everyday girl who is looking for a fun way to get in great shape, lose weight and tone to the health conscience workout lover who wants a new challenge to the new mom who wants to get her pre-baby body back without jarring her system. Pure Barre students will start to see results in just 10 classes.
Pure Barre was created by dancer, choreographer and fitness guru, Carrie Rezabek in 2001 when she opened her first studio in Michigan. The workout launches a full attack on the areas of the body women struggle with: abs, hips, seat and arms. It defies gravity by tapering everything in and lifting it up. Pure Barre Bellevue is located at 909 112th Ave NE, Suite 107, Bellevue, WA 98004. For class schedules, sign ups and to purchase classes call 206-935-7873 or click http://purebarre.com/WA-bellevue/index.html.
