SEATTLE—Pho Cyclo Café owner and chef Taylor Hoang is expanding her authentic Vietnamese restaurant to a fifth location at 900 Dexter Avenue North. Conveniently located for South Lake Union and Queen Anne residents and workers, the new Pho Cyclo Café will open Nov. 20, offering dine-in and take-out lunch and dinner, as well as online ordering and free lunch delivery.

As with the four current locations, the new Dexter location will specialize in pho, Vietnamese beef noodle soup that is simmered for at least eight hours, as well as authentic banh mi, bun rice noodle dishes, spring rolls and more. The restaurant will be open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a Vietnamese-inspired dining room similar to the other locations, complete with a vintage “cyclo,” the French word for “rickshaw.”

Unique to the Dexter location and aimed at busy South Lake Union workers, Pho Cyclo Café will offer free lunch delivery for orders of $20 and over, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant will offer lunch throughout the day and stay open until 10 p.m., offering convenient, quick and affordable dine-in and take-out dinners for Queen Anne families and neighborhood residents.

Marking the company’s 10th anniversary, Hoang originally started Pho Cyclo Café in 2003 out of a desire to eat traditional pho like she made with her mother growing up. Following the Sodo location, she opened Capitol Hill in 2005 catering to the evening crowds with later hours, then downtown Seattle in 2011 for the hungry lunch crowd, and her first Eastside location in Bellevue in 2012. A serial entrepreneur, Hoang has built and expanded the business to five locations in ten years, all before the age of 40.

Pho Cyclo Café offers approachable prices and convenient locations in Seattle and Bellevue. Dine-in and take-out options are available at all locations; online ordering at Sodo and downtown Seattle; free delivery available at the new Dexter location, phone (206) 284-2897. • Evening Magazine Cooks with Pho Cyclo Cafe! 08.19.13

Busy families know that dinner time is family time, so why not extend that to cooking time as well!

Evening Magazine went into the home kitchen of Taylor Hoang, chef-owner of Pho Cyclo Café and Lavender Jade Catering, to see how this busy mom puts healthy, kid-pleasing dinners on the table!

Taylor takes a traditional Vietnamese spring roll and adds a bit of the Northwest with salmon! What do you do if one kid likes salmon and the other likes meat? Do both, but cook it together so it’s easy and takes only a few minutes – Taylor has a great trick! The traditional fresh vegetables and herbs give the entire family a healthy dinner.

Watch the video below to see how Taylor gets the entire family involved, from 20 month old Max to 4 year old Ella! It’s like building your own pizza, but much healthier! You can get the recipe on the website here, too. It really is as easy as it looks. Enjoy!

    2) Black sesame spicy noodle salad – wide egg noodles tossed with toasted black sesame, bean sprouts, cabbage, carrots, and cucumber in sriracha soy vinaigrette, served cold

    3) Spicy mint and lemongrass chicken Banh Mi – French baguette, satay spicy lemon grass chicken, lettuce, mint leaves, pickled onions, and jalapeno

    4) Honey Iced Tea

    5) Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Salad

    6) Tofu Salad – stir–fried tofu on a bed of lettuce with tomatoes and cucumber

    7) Bun (rice noodle dishes) in nearly 15 varieties including pork, shrimp, pineapple and grilled shrimp, tofu, chicken and beef and served with fresh leaf lettuce, herbs, bean sprouts, cucumbers, carrots, daikon, peanuts and Nuoc Mam.

    8) Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp, pork chicken or tofu

The menu is created by chef-owner Taylor Hoang, who you can see talking about summer menu items and showcasing tips for making your own Vietnamese Spring Rolls on KING 5’s New Day Northwest earlier this week (video below).

This weekend you can taste these items and more at the Bite of Seattle. Taylor and her crew are just southeast of the fountain at Seattle Center.

  • Our newest clients: Pho Cyclo Cafe + Lavender Jade Catering 06.25.13

Seattle is known for its vast number of places to find pho. We’ve had good pho, we’ve had bad pho, but it wasn’t until we listened to the experts – that’s right, local chefs – and then we realized where to get the best pho! We found it at Pho Cyclo Café, noted by many for its quality steaming hot pho, but we were equally impressed by its large menu of Vietnamese favorites. From banh mi to noodle salads, spring rolls to seasonal specials, Pho Cyclo has more Vietnamese options in one place than most of the other pho shops in town.

Chef-owner Taylor Hoang started the company years ago and it has grown to four locations in Seattle and Bellevue. She’s got the business savvy, the chef palate and the cultural background to ensure her authentic, quality restaurants are serving up Vietnamese favorites. You’ll even find her taking part in Tom Douglas’ Culinary Summer Camp next month, leading instruction on how to make Pho Ga (chicken pho) and Bo La Lot (grilled beef wrapped in betel leaf). She also runs her own cooking classes out of the Pho Cycle Café Sodo location. We’ll have more on those classes and the new summer menu items soon – we’ve sneaked a peak already and we can’t wait for more!

As if that weren’t enough to keep one woman busy, Taylor also runs Lavender Jade Catering. It’s the caterer of choice when looking for your favorite Asian cuisine, from Vietnamese to Chinese, Japanese to Thai. Beautifully prepared and cordially presented, Lavender Jade adds spice and variety to any intimate event or large gathering.

We are proud to partner with Taylor, her four Pho Cyclo Cafe locations (Sodo, Downtown Seattle, Capitol Hill, Bellevue) and Lavender Jade Catering as our newest clients. We hope to see you over a steaming hot bowl of pho soon!
