Our New Client – Lloyd Martin 05.11.12

Lloyd Martin, our latest client, is a Queen Anne treasure that has been impressing local food critics since it opened in October and we are thrilled to be part of this head-turning dining option.
We were first impressed by how many of the items are truly housemade ingredients. This small neighborhood restaurant makes everything from its fresh mozzarella to its own pasta. Mix that in with Chef-Owner Sam Crannell’s passionate use of exotic game meats, flavor driven sauces and his ability to change the menu every few days based on the ingredients that come in his door – well, we were hooked!
Lloyd Martin rounds out the perfect dining experience with beautiful brown liquors in the bar, draught beer and wines from the everyday bottle to a very impressive cellar.
Social Hour tests this chef’s ability everyday, which he passes with flying colors! Tuesday-Saturday, 5-6 p.m., Sam puts masterpieces on the plate for $5 and under in the bar. Foie Gras? Sometimes. Lamb meatballs with ramps? Yep, that, too. Cocktails of your choosing are also appropriately priced in the hopes that the “social” hour will introduce you to new friends and give you a reason to meet old friends.
We mentioned the critics and we weren’t bluffing, from The Seattle Times to Seattle Weekly, Seattle Magazine to the most recent Seattle Met reviews, Seattle’s best critics have turned their heads in the direction of Lloyd Martin and we encourage you to, too! New dishes are enticing nightly.
Located at 1525 Queen Anne Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109.

“Sin well” with our new client Pecado Bueno! 03.05.12

Seattle weather has us burning for a little Baja sun and our new client, Pecado Bueno is delivering that sunshine with a California-style taqueria menu and $3 margaritas – all day, every day!
As though 100% agave tequila margaritas for $3 isn’t enough to head to Fremont, the menu features taqueria favorites including a fresh salsa bar, white fish ceviche, enchiladas, tacos and new on the menu – tortas! The ingredients that create this mouth-watering menu are natural, organic when possible, and free of trans fats and lard. The seafood is sustainable and the chicken, beef, pork and eggs are hormone-free and organically fed. Simply put, the food is good and good for you!

Raise a cocktail to our new clients – Tini Bigs + Hula Hula! 11.30.11

Craft cocktails have taken Seattle by storm. In nearly every neighborhood you’ll find a cocktail lounge that is shaking, mixing and pouring the latest trendy drinks. Our latest client, Tini Bigs, was one of the first kids on the block to create expertly prepared classic cocktails and experiment with new methods, liquors and creations. Nearly 15 years ago, Tini Bigs opened its doors as the “2nd best cocktail lounge” and it hasn’t closed its doors since – yes, that’s 5,500 days of straight business! The art of creating a well-balanced craft cocktail runs deep at Tini Bigs, as do the exceptionally large martini glasses!
Just next door at 1st and Denny, find Seattle’s only tiki karaoke bar – Hula Hula! Polynesian kitsch meets one of the best karaoke scenes in town. Celebrating 5 years in business, Hula Hula will be holding an anniversary celebration with a karaoke contest and a few surprises on Dec. 28. Hula Hula is your tropical haven in Seattle’s winter weather. Stop by and try your vocal chords at a classic rock, country or pop hit – your choice!TAGS: anniversary, craft cocktails, Hula Hula, karaoke, new client, Tini Bigs

Our latest client piled high – Goldberg’s! 09.21.11

Our latest client that has us buzzing is Goldberg’s Famous Delicatessen. One of the areas only Jewish delis, Goldberg’s take pride in offering pastrami and corned beef piled high on what may in fact be the perfect deli rye bread. If one pickle isn’t enough, they offer two kinds of pickles alongside their menu of over 260 items – yes, over 260 choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner! What’s even more amazing is that 260+ items isn’t even close to some of the East Coast delis that Goldberg’s is fashioned after. Many of the items are made in-house and others are shipped in from the East Coast for that real authentic Jewish deli taste, proof that sometimes local isn’t actually better!

Check out the Goldberg’s deli for can’t miss sliced meats or join family and friends for early bird breakfast served all day, lunch or dinner featuring traditional Jewish items, nearly half pound pastrami, corned beef and other deli sandwiches, and a few unique items all their own – deep fried salami anyone? With 260+ menu items we are well on our way to eating through the menu and enjoying every minute of it!
Check out the impressive menu before you go http://goldbergsdeli.com/.Follow Goldberg’s on Facebook and Twitter for specials, offers and a little bit of daily humor.

Raise a glass of Dry Fly – our latest client! 07.14.11

Like anyone, we love what we love and we have long admired and enjoyed our latest client, Dry Fly Distilling! Whether sipping on the rocks, classic in a martini or balanced in a handcrafted cocktail, we are huge fans of Dry Fly gin, vodka and whiskey and now we are their official evangelists, too! Dry Fly, the state’s first craft distillery since prohibition, is getting ready for a big announcement and we couldn’t be happier than to partner with them on this latest project.
We’ll be able to dish more soon, but in the meantime, check out their website and raise a glass of Dry Fly gin, vodka or whiskey in your favorite way. Be sure to mark your calendar for August 5 – anyone that is a fan of craft distilled spirits will want to be there! -
Adding another great restaurant to our client list – Fresh Bistro 07.01.11
Our new favorite spot in West Seattle is also our latest client – Fresh Bistro! The menu gives us something to talk about – many things, actually!

The international comfort food covers near and far across the globe, giving something for everyone. Sound odd? We like to say it’s unique, especially when done as beautifully as this. We can’t think of anyone else around here that is playing with such international flavors all on one menu, making this restaurant a true destination. We are at the mercy of this menu and its creative conductor, Chef Dalis Chea. Young in years but experienced with food, Fresh Bistro is a playground for Chef’s Whim (also a dinner option), and we will gladly explore our palates in his creative hands. As if it couldn’t get better, Chef also utilizes ingredients from his own backyard, often travelling to the weekly farmers market for inspiration and preferred ingredients. His great relationships with purveyors have us baffled, and as if it couldn’t get any better (yes, again), the daily cocktail special has us falling head over heels as the perfect accompaniment. As we often like to see in our partners, Fresh Bistro has a dedication to reducing its environmental footprint with sustainable business practices, too!
Much, much more coming soon! These guys are always thinking up fun new events, menu items, cocktails and more!
Check them out online at their website, Facebook and Twitter. We’re sure that they’ll have you jumping for international comfort food too!TAGS: Chef Dalis Chea, Chef's Whim, Fresh Bistro, new client, West Seattle

MIGHTY-O DONUTS ON FOOD NETWORK CHALLENGE APRIL 10 Seattle’s Only Organic Donut Bakery Competes on “Donut Champions” Episode
SEATTLE – From its small bakery situated in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood to the big stage of Food Network, Mighty-O Donuts announces its appearance on the highly popular and fast-paced Food Network Challenge: Donut Champions on Sunday, April 10 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). Competing on behalf of Mighty-O Donuts is donut creator extraordinaire Sara Beth Russert.
The adrenaline rushing, spectator sport of reality food television has found its way to the world of donuts. Four of the nation’s best doughnut bakers compete in the first Challenge featuring this breakfast staple. In this two-round challenge, each competitor is pushed to build an original doughnut showpiece. The competitor with the most impressive structure at the end of the competition wins $10,000. The four competitors are: The Hole (Denver, CO), Blue Collar Joe’s (Daleville, VA), and two of Seattle’s most notable donut makers, Mighty-O Donuts and Top Pot Doughnuts.
As one of the first organic donut retailers in the country, and the only one in Seattle, Mighty-O Donuts fills a niche that will be put to the test against the other more conventional donut makers on the show. With half of the contestants coming from Seattle, Mighty-O Donuts and Top Pot Doughnuts, a “hometown showdown” becomes a natural second contest.
Mighty-O’s contender, Sara Beth Russert, brings a twelve year history of baking knowledge and affinity for organic ingredients to Mighty-O Donuts. She learned to bake at a vegan café in Costa Mesa, CA and her five years of baking at Mighty-O Donuts gives her a strong background to compete on the show. When owner Ryan Kellner received the invitation to appear on Food Network Challenge: Donut Champions, Sara Beth was his natural choice.
Ahead of the curve, Mighty-O first started offering organic donuts in 2000. It has grown into a popular retail bakery that also provides wholesale donuts for cafes and stores in the Seattle area, as well as in select states through Whole Foods. Mighty-O attracts donut enthusiasts from around the country with its original and proprietary recipes for mixes and glazes. All donuts are made from natural, sustainable certified organic ingredients and contain no chemical preservatives, no hydrogenated oils, no colorings or artificial flavorings, and no animal derived ingredients, which also makes them vegan and cholesterol free. Mighty-O Donuts bakery and retail store is located at 2110 North 55th Street, in Seattle, WA 98103. Open 7 days a week, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about Mighty-O Donuts, please visit www.mightyo.com, call (206) 547.0335 or email info@mightyo.com. Reunited! tidbit bistro – our newest client! 12.10.10

We are so excited to once again be representing tidbit bistro! We’ve known them for years and are big fans of their restaurant. After a quick spring fling and a big move for them from one side of Capitol Hill to the other, we are reunited… and it feels so good. If you aren’t familiar with tidbit bistro from their former space on North Broadway they are a friendly and vibrant neighborhood restaurant serving Italian and Spanish inspired dishes from tapas and small plates to entrees and house made desserts. They were also the first restaurant in Seattle to serve flights of the Italian digestivos grappa and cello, as well as boasting an extensive selection of wine and cocktails. Not to mention a special vegan menu and tons of vegetarian options.
They are now located in the original La Spiga space at Broadway and Union in the Pike/Pine corridor of Capitol Hill. SoulWine takes root in SLU 11.09.10

We are proud to announce the upcoming opening of SoulWine from Pike & Western Wine Shop owner Michael Teer. Learn more about SoulWine from Seattle Met and the below press release.
For Immediate Release
Pike & Western Wine Shop Expands To South Lake Union
Owner’s second shop, SoulWine, debuts early December
SEATTLE—The long-celebrated Pike & Western Wine Shop in the historic Pike Place Market will open a second location, SoulWine, in the burgeoning South Lake Union neighborhood by early December. SoulWine will feature retail wine sales, a tasting bar and a private event space. With a strong 35 year history, Pike & Western will continue to serve market-goers and destination shoppers in Pike Place Market.
SoulWine will be a wine shop with its own identity that is directed by owner and Seattle native, Michael Teer, who was an employee of the store for eleven years before buying it in 1991. The name, SoulWine, is rooted in Michael’s lifelong appreciation of wines with soul – wines that reflect a sense of place and a sense of the people who made them – and his love for old school soul music. The collection of wines will reflect Michael’s passion for supporting the growers and small, handcrafted producers that put their “soul” into the dirt, the grapes, and the wine they produce, with an eye to unique quality and value across the price spectrum. Michael will thoughtfully select every bottle that is offered at SoulWine, many of which will reflect his strong ties with Italy, France, Germany and Austria as well as wines from Washington and Oregon.
“Pike & Western is like a first born that I have grown and nurtured. It was one of the first wine shops in Seattle and has a long history of supporting Washington wines. It has afforded me long-lasting relationships with premium wineries domestically and internationally, many of which will find their way to SoulWine,” said Michael.
The 1600 square foot space will house a careful selection of both high end and value wines, a tasting bar that seats six, a window counter for casual tastings that seat six and a private event space that seats up to 20 and can be used for casual gatherings and educational wine events, complete with wine reference materials. SoulWine will share a building with two Tom Douglas Restaurant concepts that are yet to be determined.
SoulWine, nestled in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, offers wines created by small, independent producers that have an intimate relationship to the vineyards and the winery. Its stock will reflect the eclectic tastes of owner Michael Teer and will offer wines for everyday drinking, special occasions and cellaring. SoulWine is located at 401B Westlake Avenue North, Seattle and is the sister property of Pike & Western Wine Shop in the historic Pike Place Market.
