    Holiday Champagne Fete at RN74 Dec. 1-31
    Holiday-goers are invited to pop the cork at RN74 all month long with a list of unique champagnes offered by the glass and as a flight. On Saturday, Dec. 8, 1:30-3:30 p.m., guests will sample some of the restaurant’s best champagnes from their recently expanded cellar, as well as special bottles brought in for the holidays. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a flight of unique top champagnes, and champagne-focused discussion with RN74’s award-winning sommelier Jeff Lindsay-Thorsen and Paul Swanson.

    The holiday festivities kick off Dec. 1 with champagnes available by the glass and as a flight during dinner service for the full month, including New Year’s Eve. The champagnes are hand selected by the restaurant’s sommelier team, focusing on bottles that are not often available by the glass, allowing for tasting rare bubbles.

  • Viva La France! RN74 Hosts Bastille Day Celebration July 14 07.11.17

     

    Celebrate Bastille Day in style at RN74! Michael Mina’s Seattle restaurant will be hosting a Bastille Day Celebration on July 14 from 3-10 pm in honor of the French National holiday. The event will feature an opulent spread of French-style hors d’oeuvres, oysters, craft cocktails and an abundance of wine from their award-winning cellar, all for just $45. The lavish event will also tempt with fun, engaging and entertaining burlesque dancers and a complimentary photo booth.

     

     

    For those who are looking for a more decadent celebration, RN74 is offering a three-course dinner with French wine pairings selected by RN74 sommelier Jeff Lindsay-Thorsen. The menu features a twist on classic French fare including Foie Gras Torchon with black truffle gelee, Alaskan Halibut Bouillabaisse with Penn Cove mussels, Manila clams and saffron rouille, and a selection of sinfully French desserts including Mousse Au Chocolate, that will certainly leave you wanting more.     The celebration also calls for a Bastille Day themed cocktail –The French Summer Sparkle! The holiday-themed libation features Big Gin, earl grey simple syrup, lemon juice, lavender bitters and champagne. It’s a big taste of France in a perfect summer drink.

    Internationally appointed chef puts down roots in Seattle, taking the helm

    at Michael Mina’s Northwest flagship

    Chef and Restaurateur Michael Mina announced today the appointment of his new executive chef at RN74 Seattle, Ben Godwin. Godwin will oversee day-to-day culinary operations and menu development, marking the downtown Seattle restaurant and bar’s fifth anniversary. Godwin gained his culinary expertise from esteemed restaurants around the world, including Alinea in Chicago, Noma in Copenhagen and The Fat Duck in Bray, England.

    “Ben brings a remarkable amount of creativity to the RN74 team,” said Michael Mina. “His impressive restaurant experience combined with his love for the Pacific Northwest and local resources is a great match for our team and we are thrilled to have him at the helm of the restaurant.”

    Prior to joining RN74, Godwin was the head chef at Meat & Bread in Seattle, where he led day-to-day operations and brand development. Other recent professional credits include serving as chef de cuisine at Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie, Wash., and as executive sous chef at Wolfgang Puck Catering in Seattle.

    A native of Clare, England, Godwin’s globetrotting kitchen experiences also included serving as a sous chef at the West Plaza Hotel in Wellington, New Zealand and as chef de partie at Fenix in Melbourne, Australia. In 2010, Godwin progressed from stagiaire to chef de partie at the Michelin three-star restaurant, The Fat Duck. He considered this his most impactful culinary experience to date. Ready to start a family, he returned to Seattle in 2012 with his wife, a Seattle native.

    “It’s a thrill to work with such a dynamic innovator and chef as Michael Mina,” Godwin said. “I look forward to applying my diverse culinary experiences to complement his RN74 vision.”

    Godwin’s monthly-changing tasting menu offers a glimpse into his talent and creativity. The menu includes Cucumber Gazpacho, summer squash, geoduck; Parisian Gnocchi, chanterelle, bearnaise; and Roasted Scallop, heirloom carrot, pistachio, green strawberry.
