Local bartender Mark Sexauer has made a name for himself in cocktail-centric circles and now he is putting his passion and knowledge onto the pages of his new cocktail book: Aphrodisiacs with a Twist, launching Monday, June 24, and you’re invited!
The recipe book combines beauty and functionality into a lifestyle book for everyone, from the cocktail novice to enthusiast, and beginners to seasoned professionals. With nearly 100 original recipes, Mark covers basic cocktails with as few as two ingredients to cocktails for the more advanced with housemade bitters and syrups. Recipes are sorted by ingredient and their aphrodisiac quality, such as carrots, figs and fennel. While this gorgeous, hardbound book might look like coffee table art, the functionality of the recipes will keep it in your home kitchen and bar.

Have you ever had an award-winning cocktail? How about one with cumin, carrots, egg whites and gin? One of the bartending industry’s most prestigious cocktail competitions took place on August 23 with a state-wide search for “The Most Inspired Bartender” competition. The winner was Milagro Cantina and Hector’s own Mark Sexauer with his inspired cocktail, The Forager.
The fun doesn’t end there. Mark is taking The Forager to Las Vegas this weekend to compete against 46 other bartenders from around the country for the national title of “The Most Inspired Bartender.” The winner doesn’t just walk away with the title, but will also walk away with the cover of an upcoming GQ magazine (after all, it’s their competition along with the United States Bartenders Guild) and fly to London for the international competition.
How you can join the fun? Mark will be shaking up The Forager TONIGHT ONLY at Milagro Cantina. Taste how creative and balanced a cocktail can be and, as 425 Magazine puts it, “support your local bartender!” And why not? It’s a gorgeous day for a Forager.
