    Need a fun and engaging summer activity for your kids? Look no further! Blue Ribbon Cooking is offering numerous cooking camps this summer for children of all ages.

    Kids get to take a hands-on role in planning and preparing delicious gourmet family meals all while learning invaluable cooking and baking techniques. Each camp ends with a Thursday night Graduation Dinner for parents and kids that’s created and prepared by the students themselves!

    In each camp, students are provided with daily meals and cooking supplies in addition to a personalized chef’s jacket, a professional-quality chef’s knife, an electronic cookbook, and much more.

    Kids can choose from Classic Culinary Camp, Baking & Pastry Camp, or Advanced French Culinary Camp. If parents want to get in the kitchen along with their little ones, they can opt for the Mom & Me Camp; parents, grandparents, and caregivers are all welcome!

    What’s included?
    Students are provided with daily meals, cooking supplies, a personalized chef jacket and a professional-quality chef knife!

    The Classic Culinary, Baking & Pastry, and Advanced French Culinary Camp all include a Thursday night graduation sit-down dinner for parents and kids, created and cooked by the students themselves.

  • Purchase Bastille Bash Tickets Online by Jul. 10! 07.09.14



    Madison Valley’s third annual Bastille Bash is this Saturday, July 12 from 3-8 p.m.! The French-inspired celebration is expected to sell out so beat the lines this weekend by purchasing your tickets early. Food tickets and wine passports are available for purchase online until 12 p.m., Thursday, July 10. After that they will be available for purchase on July 12 at Bastille Bash.

    Food tickets are sold in packages of four for $10. Each restaurant offers various menu items for one, two, or three tickets. One wine passport, priced at $20, entitles you to 10 tastings of wine, beer, or spirits. Bottles of wine will be for sale to take home and all proceeds benefit Art With Heart.

    Wine and dine all along East Madison Street as local restaurants, wineries, distilleries, and breweries serve Parisian-inspired bites and refreshments. Here’s a sampling of what to expect:

    Bonjour! The storming of the Bastille is approaching–the storming of the “Bastille Bash” that is! Madison Valley will host their third annual “Bastille Bash” up and down East Madison Street, Saturday, July 12th from 3-8 p.m. Stop by to enjoy copious amounts of French flair provided by Madison Valley restaurants, bars, shops and more.

    Come prepared to bon appétit! Indulge in French inspired cuisine by local favorites Voila and Luc, or take a bite out of Seattle’s “Best Macaron” by beloved Parisian patisserie, Belle Epicurean. Over a dozen Madison Valley restaurants will be participating in the bash, offering enticing sweet and savory bites inspired by French cuisine.

    Although Madison Street may be far from the rolling vineyards of Bordeaux, that doesn’t mean we can’t all enjoy a glass of wine in the name of the revolution! Take a sip from some of Washington’s best local wineries, breweries, and distilleries, and stroll down Madison colorfully decked out in red, white, and blue. Oui oui!

    The sun is shining and the sky is clear, summer is finally here and your kids want to have fun and relax! Fill up their summer schedule at Blue Ribbon Cooking & Culinary Center on Lake Union. Blue Ribbon is in its 19th year of hosting fun, educational culinary camps for kids of all ages. Cooking camps help build confidence and creativity as they don their chef’s hat and venture to the kitchen to create meals, bake pastries, learn to chop, slice and make grocery lists.

     

    All kids camps except Mom & Me, will end with a celebratory graduation dinner where kids show off the culinary skills they learned to their friends and family. Each camp will supply your little chef with cooking necessities, including: a personalized chef’s jacket, apron, professional-quality chef’s knife, cookbook of recipes, utensils, and more!

  • Bastille Bash is tomorrow July 13th! 07.12.13



    Bonjour! Madison Valley’s 2nd annual Bastille Bash is this Saturday, July 13 from 3-8 p.m.! They are decking out East Madison with French flags, banners and all things red, white and blue and getting ready to enjoy la vie en rose.

    Festivities will take place up and down East Madison Street from 27th to 30th Avenues. Guests will enjoy Bastille Day celebrations, indulge in French inspired food from Madison Valley restaurants, taste sips from Northwest wineries, breweries and distilleries, be entertained by live music, street performers and live chef and gardening demos, and kids activities.

    Highlights include: Spirits Garden in Rover’s courtyard, eight live music and dance acts, bites and sips from more than 30 food and beverage partners, a chef demo stage featuring Cormac Mahoney of Madison Park Conservatory, Jason Wilson of Crush, Jim Drohman of Le Pichet and Cafe Presse, and John Platt of St. Cloud, and the chance to win a weekend in Paris by France Homestyle!

    Beneficiary: Proceeds from Bastille Bash support the Children’s Response Center.

    Tickets: The event is FREE to attend and tickets for food and beverages will be sold at the event on 29th Avenue. Food is priced at $2.50, $5.00, $7.50 per bite and tickets can be purchased in $10 increments. The Wine Passport includes tastings of wine, beer and spirits from each of the purveyors for $20 per person, including your own wine glass.

  • Free Pumpkin Decorating at Cafe Flora 10.19.12


    Grab the kiddos and head to Cafe Flora on Saturday, October 27th for a Free Pumpkin Decorating event!

    No reservations needed. Drop in from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and let the kids decorate their pumpkin, donated by Oxbow Farm, with art teacher guidance from Thrive Art School in Madison Valley, also providing the decorating supplies.

    The kids can refuel with Cafe Flora treats including Rockridge Orchard spiced cider, pumpkin bread, kids pumpkin pancakes and other fall treats! And parents can enjoy brunch from Cafe Flora’s fall menu.

    MADISON VALLEY NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZES FIRST BASTILLE DAY FESTIVAL JULY 14
    Live music, gourmet food, wine tasting and family activities

    SEATTLE—The neighborhood of Madison Valley will host their first “Bastille Bash” on Saturday, July 14, on East Madison Street from 27th to 29th Avenue. From 3–8 p.m. guests will enjoy Bastille Day celebrations and indulge in Seattle’s self-proclaimed European village with French inspired food from some of the city’s most acclaimed restaurants, as well as wine tastings, live music, complimentary spa services, one-day sidewalk sales, giveaways and a variety of other special offerings hosted by Madison Valley boutiques and businesses.

    Tickets for food and wine will be sold at the event along East Madison Street. Small plates will be available for purchase for $2-6. A wine passport will be available for a $10 donation and will allow guests to taste wine at participating retail shops. Entertainment will include French band Vuelta La Luna playing from 3-5 p.m., and Rouge playing from 5-8 p.m., as well as troubadours, jugglers and kids activities in front of Sugarlump.

    Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s Response Center, a local nonprofit that provides unduplicated, essential legal and counseling services to children under 18 in east and north King County, who have experienced severe abuse, trauma and child crimes.
