    Friday February 14 marks one year since My Sweet Lil Cakes owners Jesse and Sheena Lee sold their first hotcake on a stick from their 1950’s themed truck. Since kicking off the mobile waffle trend last year with their hotcake creations, My Sweet Lil Cakes has become a crowd favorite in the Seattle food truck scene. In honor of their first anniversary, the first 40 customers to visit My Sweet Lil Cakes on Friday, February 14 will receive a free, fresh-made hotcake on a stick!

    Be on the lookout for the tangerine hued truck with the heavenly smells at Westlake park (across from Westlake Center) from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. First come, first serve so be sure to get there early!

    Green Apple Pecan

    My Sweet Little Cakes’ unique mobile hotcakes always feature scratch-made batter and sweet and savory fillings made from quality ingredients. Each variety is paired with a custom dipping sauce to complement its flavors. On Friday, guests will be able to select any of their three sweet hotcake flavors below.

    • Blueberry Lemon Ricotta with Honey Lemon Syrup
    • Green Apple & Caramel with Pecans (Vegan & Gluten Free)
    • Red Velvet Buttermilk with Dark Cherries & Sweet Cream Cheese

    Additional menu items include:

    • Free Range Chicken & Waffle with Maple Butter
    • Beer & Hickory Smoked Bacon with Maple Syrup

    • Chorizo, Bell Peppers & Melted Cheddar Cheese (Vegetarian)
    • Cornbread, Cheddar, Jalapeno & Cilantro (Vegetarian)

    Hours of operation:
    Look for My Sweet Lil Cakes on Fridays at Westlake Park at 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Sundays at Chucks Hop Shop (20th and Union) at 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Hours vary by day so keep up with their most up to date hours on their Facebook and Twitter.

  • Free Pumpkin Decorating at Cafe Flora 10.19.12

    Grab the kiddos and head to Cafe Flora on Saturday, October 27th for a Free Pumpkin Decorating event!

    No reservations needed. Drop in from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and let the kids decorate their pumpkin, donated by Oxbow Farm, with art teacher guidance from Thrive Art School in Madison Valley, also providing the decorating supplies.

    The kids can refuel with Cafe Flora treats including Rockridge Orchard spiced cider, pumpkin bread, kids pumpkin pancakes and other fall treats! And parents can enjoy brunch from Cafe Flora’s fall menu.

    Kids are encouraged to come in costume!!

    Coastal Kitchen will be shucking and handing out 1,000 tasty bivalves on the half shell today beginning at 5 p.m. This shuck-fest is in celebration of Coastal Kitchen’s 20th anniversary and the upcoming debut of the remodeled restaurant and its new oyster bar. If you’re an oyster lover or have never sunk your teeth into a briny oyster morsel, we want to see you there!

    The First Shuck event will take place on the sidewalk in front of Coastal Kitchen. The event will present new Executive Chef Jason Jones and his staff shucking 1,000 oysters. Owners Jeremy Hardy & Tiah Holt Hardy along with long time General Manager Eli Britt will be handing out the free oysters and answering questions about the remodel.

    Coastal Kitchen will resume feeding crowds breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night on Saturday, Oct. 20. The restaurant has been closed since Sept 24 to allow for construction on a new oyster bar, new cocktail bar, outdoor seating off the front of the restaurant, new bamboo flooring in the dining room, the integration of a private dining room into the main dining room and new flooring in the kitchen.
