    The area is buzzing with the onset of Seattle Restaurant Week! The broadest reaching, largest dining celebration in the area is happening now through October 30 (excluding Friday and Saturday). SRW continues to offer the best dining deals around with three-course dinners for $30 and two-course lunches for $15.
    From new participants such as Vespolina, Bell + Whete and Mkt to longtime classics such as Dahlia Lounge, Tilth and Nell’s, over 160 restaurants in King County are offering diners a delicious way to dine! A generous three-quarters of participants offer menus with vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free menu options. Many restaurants also offer optional beverage pairings and their usual kids menus, making SRW a family occasion, not just ideal for date night or group night.
    Menus overflow with fall harvest including squash, pumpkin, foraged mushrooms, artichokes, game meats and more! See the creativity of these chefs as they utilize local ingredients on the diverse menus showcasing ethnic cuisines including Indian, French, Japanese, Italian and New American.

  • Cafe Flora Wins Best Vegetarian Restaurant 11.14.13

    Twenty-two years in business and Cafe Flora is still on fire! After receiving the honor of “Best Vegetarian Restaurants in the U.S.” by Travel + Leisure magazine, the Madison Valley restaurant received local recognition from its loyal customers on KING 5’s Best of Western Washington poll. Offering creative vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, made with fresh, local and organic ingredients, it is no wonder Cafe Flora was voted Best Vegetarian Restaurant in Western Washington!

    To recognize the restaurant’s award, Cafe Flora owner Nat Stratton-Clarke was featured on Evening Magazine’s reveal show. Watch the episode below to view the nationally recognized restaurant and the dish that’s been on the menu for nearly all 22 years! Congrats Cafe Flora!

  • Jason Wilson Cooks Up “Top Chefs Kids Menu” On Evening Magazine 11.13.13

    Chef Jason Wilson may be busy with his award-winning restaurant, CRUSH, and opening a new restaurant, Miller’s Guild, next month, but he always takes time out to cook with his son.

    Evening Magazine stopped by the Wilson house to chat about wood-fired cooking at the soon-to-open Miller’s Guild — and Ferrin and Jason put on a show of their own by making “Meatballs with a Chance of Pretzels,” inspired by one of their favorite movies “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.” Gluten-free pretzels, and even vegetables, add to a delicious recipe that kids can make at home (with supervision). As Jason puts it “There’s really nothing like cooking for those that you are intimately in love with.”

  • Evening Magazine Cooks with Pho Cyclo Cafe! 08.19.13

    Busy families know that dinner time is family time, so why not extend that to cooking time as well!

    Evening Magazine went into the home kitchen of Taylor Hoang, chef-owner of Pho Cyclo Café and Lavender Jade Catering, to see how this busy mom puts healthy, kid-pleasing dinners on the table!

    Taylor takes a traditional Vietnamese spring roll and adds a bit of the Northwest with salmon! What do you do if one kid likes salmon and the other likes meat? Do both, but cook it together so it’s easy and takes only a few minutes – Taylor has a great trick! The traditional fresh vegetables and herbs give the entire family a healthy dinner.
