    The modern Indian restaurant that met eager diners just one year ago is celebrating their anniversary December 2-7, giving you six changes to indulge Shanik’s special three-course menu with wine pairings.

    In Indian culture, anniversaries are celebrated by giving to the patrons and friends, so in this case, Meeru Dhalwala has assembled a special menu for guests! Pairing wine with Indian flavors is not an easy feat, to that end, Oguz Istif has paired the menu for you with a red and white wine options for each course.

    What better way for a chef to celebrate seven years of making it in the highly competitive restaurant world then by featuring two of her favorite things – BBQ and bourbon! In those seven years, Maria Hines has accomplished a lot, from winning a James Beard Best Chef NW award to making the New York Times list of best new restaurants in 2008. She’s also opened two more restaurants as well!

    Seattle magazine says, “mark your calendar” for this Saturday afternoon, Aug. 31, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Maria will be trading in her Chilled Cucumber Soup and St. Jude Albacore Tuna Croquettes for Pulled Pork Sliders, Braised Greens and Ham Hocks, and Slow Cooked Wagyu Beef Ribs.

    In true James Beard award winner style, guests will experience sides such as Bone Marrow and Tomato Jam on Toast and Kohlrabi and Cabbage Slaw, dishes that Seattle Met has been dreaming about since first announced!

  • COASTAL KITCHEN SHUCKS 1,000 FREE OYSTERS TODAY & YOU’RE INVITED! 10.18.12



    Coastal Kitchen will be shucking and handing out 1,000 tasty bivalves on the half shell today beginning at 5 p.m. This shuck-fest is in celebration of Coastal Kitchen’s 20th anniversary and the upcoming debut of the remodeled restaurant and its new oyster bar. If you’re an oyster lover or have never sunk your teeth into a briny oyster morsel, we want to see you there!

    The First Shuck event will take place on the sidewalk in front of Coastal Kitchen. The event will present new Executive Chef Jason Jones and his staff shucking 1,000 oysters. Owners Jeremy Hardy & Tiah Holt Hardy along with long time General Manager Eli Britt will be handing out the free oysters and answering questions about the remodel.

    Coastal Kitchen will resume feeding crowds breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night on Saturday, Oct. 20. The restaurant has been closed since Sept 24 to allow for construction on a new oyster bar, new cocktail bar, outdoor seating off the front of the restaurant, new bamboo flooring in the dining room, the integration of a private dining room into the main dining room and new flooring in the kitchen.

    The restaurant biz is far from easy – ask Sam Crannell, chef-owner of Lloyd Martin, whose restaurant celebrates one year in business next week! Working hard for his critic nods and his Best New Restaurant Award, Sam isn’t about to coast with just one year under his belt. He’s fine-tuning, creating and pushing his culinary envelope to keep guests happy and coming back to his Queen Anne restaurant.

    Sam will “pause” on October 6 to celebrate his one year of success at Lloyd Martin with an anniversary dinner focused around game meats.   • Tini Bigs Celebrates 15 Years of Craft Cocktails 01.17.12



    As one of the early shakers on the Seattle cocktail scene, Tini Bigs has birthed some of the city’s most creative cocktails and well-known, talented bartenders who poured them. While trendy bars have come and gone, Tini Bigs’ classic and retro cocktails have given way to national and industry recognition through the years. Tini Bigs is commemorating their cocktails, bartenders and loyal guests on January 22 with their famous 10 oz. martinis for just $5.

    These aren’t just any martinis. Proprietor Keith Robbins is bringing back the most popular cocktails from each of the 15 years and some of the bartenders that poured them! That’s right, relive your Jolly Tini (green apple martini) days, taste the Smokey Bigs Martini again for the first time, and remember the award-winning John Wayne (Tini’s manhattan version).   • HULA HULA YOUR WAY TO THE 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY 12.22.11



    Celebrating five years as Seattle’s best tiki karaoke bar, Hula Hula will be throwing itself a birthday party and inviting new and loyal guests to commemorate the night on stage. The anniversary event will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 4-10 p.m., with festivities continuing until close.

    The evening will also mark the launch of Hula Hula’s live internet streaming karaoke with a special, inaugural contest that encourages performances and internet viewing of contestants from 7-9 p.m. All performances will be viewable at www.hulahula.org. Online spectators and guests at Hula Hula will vote from 9-9:30 p.m. on Hula Hula’s Facebook or via Twitter for their favorite performance. The winner will be announced at 10 p.m.

    From 4 to 10 p.m., all food and drinks will be $5. Regularly $9-$22, popular tiki drinks include: “Classic” Mai Tai, Planters Punch, Blue Hawaiian and Volcano Bowl.

    Hula Hula has been known for its karaoke scene since opening in Dec. 2006. Karaoke is offered seven nights a week led by the crowd-pleasing and self-professed Karaoke Geek, KJ Mikey, who masterfully operates the state-of-the-art karaoke sound system as guests belt out their favorite renditions of Journey, Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffet, Johnny Cash and more.

    a Benefit Japanese Whiskey Tasting for Tsunami Relief and More


    Seattle—When Dragonfish Asian Cafe opened its doors 14 years ago, it became a cornerstone of Pan-Asian cuisine in Seattle. As the restaurant celebrates yet another successful year in June, owner Takao Kikuchi has planned a week of delicious festivities and a special Japanese whiskey tasting benefit for tsunmai victims in Ishinomaki, Miyagi, Japan—the hometown of Kikuchi’s wife, Yuko. From June 6-11, make Dragonfish your delicious destination and get to know the restaurant all over again.

    “We feel very fortunate to have a thriving restaurant that has stood the test of time,” Kikuchi said. “In addition to celebrating our 14th year, we want to help the Ishinomaki Chamber of Commerce; this town is only beginning to sort through the devastation caused by the tsunami and any cash contribution will help in their relief efforts.”

    Yuko Kikuchi recently spent six weeks in Ishinomaki helping earthquake victims and will return next month. Meanwhile, Mr. Kikuchi has been refreshing food and drink menus at Dragonfish and planning 14th anniversary festivities. Within the refreshed noodle and vegetable dishes, sushi, and perfect-for-sharing Izakaya small plates, there’s something for everyone; the menu continues to represent flavors of China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and Korea.

    Kathy Casey Liquid Kitchen™, which created the restaurant’s opening cocktails, recently revamped the drink menu with cocktails such as the Mandarin Dragon Mojito, Cucumber Sake Sour, and Yamazaki Yacht Club.
